Living Our Best Lives: Self-Care for Black School Psychologists| BSPN, Inc.

Join BSPN's Chief of Staff, Dr. Tiara Bland, and Director of Marketing, Dr. Aline Milfort, as they host a much-needed discussion on self-care with special guests Dr. Kamio Jones and Maya Evans!

Meet our guests:
Dr. Kamio Jones was born in Oxnard, CA, and raised in Sacramento, CA. She earned her bachelor's degree in Psychology with a minor in Africana Studies from CSU Long Beach and her master's in counseling and doctorate of education degree from the University of the Pacific. She worked as a school psychologist for three years at a TK-6th grade charter school in Clarksburg, CA, and is now currently finishing her fourth year in the field in Elk Grove Unified School District working with students from Kindergarten to 12th grade. She has held the role of secretary while she assisted her previous coworkers, at the charter school, unionize and she participated in creating the first-ever bargaining contract for the district. She also presented her dissertation research at the poster presentation session at the first-ever Black School Psychologist Summit in April of 2023.

Maya Evans is a nationally certified school psychologist based in South Florida. She graduated from the Teachers College of Columbia University with a Master of Education in Applied Developmental/School Psychology. As a former collegiate athlete and current fitness coach, Maya specializes in working with student-athletes.
