Liberated Legacies: A Discussion with Black Men in Clinical Psychology| Becoming Dr. Baker

Hi Loves!! HAPPY BLACK HISTORY MONTH!!!

Becoming Dr. Baker is BACK and moving towards one of the original goals of the channel: sparking critical conversations and highlighting the experiences of those whose voices are often silenced.

Many decades ago, Malcolm X posed the question to Americans: What do you call a Black Man with a Ph.D.? Despite the many achievements and advancements of Black males both individually and collectively, they continue to be dehumanized, neglected, and tokenized in academic spaces. Today, I sit down with three AMAZING (that's an understatement) Black male clinical psychology trainees to learn more about their experiences in academia and their visions for the field of psychology. We check in about mental health, explore topics of diversity and inclusion, share frustrations with the lack of authentic Black representation, and more!

*Notice– I am taking a backseat in this episode. These conversations are not for me to do the talking (I do enough of that!). It was a privilege to present these awesome guests the space to explore, share, and commiserate the Black male experience in clinical psychology!

Let me know what you think in the comments. Have a story to share– let me know and I may feature you on the channel!
